Rose & Bech highlights

Whilst catching up after returning from ISEA I've seen a couple of great things acheived by DCRC researchers recently that I want to highlight. First is Mandy Rose's brilliant Are You Happy ? Project. There are now 35 video clips from all over the world where Mandy's collaborators have followed Jean Rouche's method and stopped people on the street to ask the big question. The sheer variety of people and places is breathtakingly lovely, pointing the way to the new forms of documentary offered by the web. Go and browse a few clips. Change the frame of your day. Next stage is to curate these clips using Popcorn so that live context data is pulled in to the clips. Watch this space for results later this year.

Second Summer hit is DCRC PhD student Tine Bech's Big Swim project. Have a look at the lovely video of folks swimming in the unique colour mists that Tine created for the work. A triumph of health and safety. See also her new interactive teapot - I know, how interactive do you want a teapot to be ? But, like all Tine's work, its seriously beautful.
