Dawn Limbu

Working part-time for the digital cultures research centre, she assists with media, communications, and audience engagement. Her background lies in art & design, digital media and journalism.

She is currently studying MA Journalism at UWE Bristol. Dawn’s work and research explore the experiences of marginalised communities in the U.K and representation in media industries. Her writing explores social issues, focusing on the experiences of migrants and refugees. She is also passionate about the environment and the effects of climate change beyond the Western World. In 2020, she won a scholarship from the Crispin Aubrey Legacy Fund for demonstrating an interest in journalism, social issues, and the environment.

Dawn is part of a small independent media production team called ‘Black Excellence Bristol’, producing short documentaries about Black people in Bristol, exploring what Black excellence means to them.

Dawn is particularly interested in the music industry and amplifying underrepresented voices. She has worked with SONY Music and the Creative Mentor Network as part of their ‘positive influence’ programme.
