Lisa Conlan

Lisa is an intuitive artist, doing doctoral research that explores how visual arts organisations can take a co-creative approach to refugee wellbeing. She is currently collaborating with a refugee film maker to develop a refugee-led documentary on how refugees navigate the city of Bristol – New Roots. Lisa is embedded within the community, volunteering with various refugee charities and sits on the steering group for sanctuary in Bristol. She learns through experimentation, doing research by listening and approaching things in a slow way. Lisa has been passionate about inserting refugee perspectives into research since her master’s degree which focused on her embodied whiteness around refugee spaces in Copenhagen. She is currently developing a knowledge sharing concept with the SWWDTP to bring research into the community.
