Patricia Francis
Dr. Patricia Francis is a filmmaker and Senior Lecturer in Media Communication at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol. Prior to working in academia Patricia had an extensive media career working in broadcast journalism with the BBC. She was a Midlands3Cities AHRC PhD researcher at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Her film The Art of Oppression (2021) won The Windrush Caribbean Film Festival Best Film category and at NTU in 2023 she organised an international conference ‘When I Dare to be Powerful’ which centred on ‘voice’ as an act of resistance.
